Class Registration
When Does Class Registration Occur?
Registration for classes takes place during specific periods of time:
- Fall and spring semesters: students may begin registering during their designated enrollment appointment.
- Summer sessions: registration typically begins in early March.
- Winter session: registration typically begins in early October.
Credit Hours and Full-Time Status
Undergraduate students must be registered for 12 or more credits to be considered full-time; students registered for less than 12 credits are considered part-time. In order to graduate in 4 years, students should take an average of 15 credits per semester. Students can register for a maximum of 19 credits during the fall and spring semesters. Students who wish to register for more than 19 credit hours during the fall or spring semester must consult with their academic advisor for approval. There are also credit limits for summer and winter sessions.
All graduate students must be registered for a minimum of 12 credit hours during each fall and spring semester or a minimum of 9 hours if the student holds a graduate, teaching, or research assistantship to be considered full-time by certain outside agencies and organizations such as lending institutions, health insurance carriers, the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service, etc.
Please note that your status (full-time or part-time) will impact the amount of financial aid that you are eligible to receive.
