Reporting Resign (R) Grades to the National Student Clearinghouse

Please note that the University at Buffalo has recently changed the way we calculate students’ academic load in our enrollment reporting to the National Student Clearinghouse.

Beginning fall 2014, courses in which a student resigns will not be counted towards his or her academic load. This means that students who resign coursework after the drop/add deadline will be reported as having a lesser enrollment status to the National Student Clearinghouse if the resign(s) change the student’s academic load (ex: from full time to part time). This accurate reporting of a change in status may have implications for financial aid and lending.

Please be sure to meet with your academic advisor and/or speak with a financial aid advisor before dropping or resigning any coursework to make sure you understand the academic and financial implications of doing so.
