Apply for Degree Conferral

You must apply for graduation in your HUB Student Center to be reviewed for degree conferral. You will only be able to select the Graduation Terms that are available to apply for, and you will not be able to apply for your degree more than one year in advance. If you need to apply for a term after the application deadline or need to update your conferral term, please submit the Graduation Update Form.

Winter Session
Students applied for fall conferral may enroll in winter session. Courses completed in winter session will be applicable towards your fall degree conferral.

Confirm Your Grades

All grades must be finalized before your conferral date. This includes Independent Study, Study Abroad, Incomplete and blank grades.

Degree conferral will be denied if incomplete grades exist on record. Action must be taken to default the grade if your graduation term is before the grade default deadline. If your grade is not changed by the conferral date, you must submit a request to update your expected graduation term. The student is responsible for informing of the expected date of grade completion.

Grades will not be changed after degree conferral except in cases of administrative error.

Review Your Transcripts

Ensure transfer work has been added to your record and all official transcripts arrive on campus before your conferral date.

If your official transcript will not arrive before your conferral date, it is important you notify ahead of time to ensure your degree is not denied.

Verify Name and Permanent Address for Diploma

Name on your Diploma
Your primary, legal name is printed on diplomas. However, a preferred/chosen name may be considered. See Diploma Name Guidance for more information.

Permanent Address
Your paper diploma will be mailed to your permanent address on file at the time of conferral approximately three (3) to six (6) weeks after the conferral of your degree. You are responsible for updating your permanent address in HUB; these should be made by the end of the conferral term to ensure you receive your diploma. Notification your diploma has been shipped and the creation of your Certified Electronic Diploma will be sent to your UB email from
